Fortunately, so is winter.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Spring weather has arrived and the event schedule is filled with both indoor and outdoor activities.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Longwood Gardens (Route 1, Kennett Square, 610-388-1000, <a id=\"OWAcae32687-f859-a31c-3333-64fe95f0ccd0\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.longwoodgardens.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>www.longwoodgardens.org<\/u><\/a>) is now featuring one of its popular annual special events \u2013 \u201cSpring Blooms.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Spring in Longwood Gardens isn\u2019t rendered. It\u2019s real.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Every bud, bloom, and birdsong is nature-generated, crafted by sunshine and soil \u2026 not software. Color pops, leaves unfurl, and the whole landscape awakens with fresh, authentic, undeniable energy.<\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Early spring bulbs bring the season to life, followed by flowering trees bursting into bloom. Fragrance drifts on the breeze. Radiant tulips stretch towards the sky.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">No filters. No shortcuts.\u00a0Real\u00a0spring \u2026 far beyond anything pixels can imitate.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Spring at Longwood: nothing artificial about it.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">A featured attraction is the Kurume Azalea Bonsai Display.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">This display features early spring blooming Kurume hybrid azalea (Rhododendron\u00a0hybrid), known for their bright flower colors and evergreen foliage. Also known as Japanese azaleas, this type of hybrid has been cultivated in Japan since the late 1600s.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">These Kurume azaleas were obtained as full-sized plants from Fairmount Park in Philadelphia, given to the United States from France as part of the bicentennial celebration. Grown in the clump style, their bonsai training began in 1980.<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Right now, Redbud is in bloom.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Eastern redbud (<i>Cercis canadensis<\/i>) is a beautiful native spring flowering tree in the bean or legume family. It produces showy, dense clusters of purplish-pink flowers along its stems in April before the foliage appears.<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Other beauties in bloom are Yoshino Cherry Trees, early tulip bulbs, Pride-of-Madeira, Bloodroot, Loose-flower Hornbeam and Magnolia.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Inside Longwood&#8217;s Conservatory, visitors can check out the towering Clerodendrum schmidtii (chains of glory) as well as nearly 300 blooming orchids on display in the Orchid House.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">As always, admission by \u201cTimed Ticket\u201d &#8212; tickets issued for specific dates and times. Timed ticketing limits the number of people in the Gardens at any given time and allows guests to enjoy minimal lines and a better viewing experience.<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">You may enter the Gardens up to 30 minutes prior and 30 minutes after your designated time. Make every effort to arrive at your designated reservation time. Click or tap to follow the link.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.delart.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i><u>www.delart.org<\/u><\/i><\/a>) is presenting its \u201cFifth Annual Pow Wow of Arts and Culture\u201d on April 11 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Planned in partnership with community advisors and the Nanticoke Indian Association, this free event celebrates indigenous culture.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The featured artist is Fawn Wood.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Wood from Saddle Lake Cree Nation is a celebrated Plains Cree and Salish musician from St. Paul, Alberta, Canada, known for her powerful contributions to traditional Indigenous music, including Round Dance, hand drum, and pow-wow singing.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">In 2022, she made history by winning the first-ever Juno Award for Traditional Indigenous Artist or Group of the Year for her acclaimed album, K\u00e2kike.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">In 2006, she became the first woman to win the Hand Drum contest at the Gathering of Nations Pow-Wow.<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">She released her debut solo album, \u201cIskwewak \u2013 Songs of Indigenous Womanhood,\u201d in 2012, which earned her the \u201cBest<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Female Artist\u201d award at the 2013 Native American Music Awards (NAMMYS).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Keith Colston (Tuscarora and Lumbee) is the MC and Chief Urie Ridgeway (Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape) is the Arena Director.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Dancers and Drummers include Head Lady Adrienne Harmon (Nanticoke), Head Male Louis Campbell (Lumbee), and Host Drum: Red Blanket Singers (Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape) with Aztec Dance by Tonantzin Yaotecas.<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Other entertainment will be provided by Hoop Dancer \u2013 Angela Gladue (Cree-nehiyaw), Flutist \u2013 Richie Olivera (Dakota\/Chippewa) and Storyteller \u2013 Ragghi Rain (Cherokee).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">There will also be Indigenous arts and crafts along with food truck vendors.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">This\u00a0Powwow\u00a0is open to the public. Morris acted as a farmer, shipowner, miller, iron master, shop owner, and owner of the mill now known as Mather Mill. Hope Lodge is an excellent example of early Georgian architecture, and it is possible that Edmund Woolley, architect of Independence Hall, offered advice in building. Samuel Morris owned the estate until his death in 1770.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Visitors can participate by watching a short film and then taking a tour.
