{"id":42670,"date":"2025-11-07T16:16:55","date_gmt":"2025-11-07T21:16:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chescotimes.com\/?p=42670"},"modified":"2025-11-07T16:16:57","modified_gmt":"2025-11-07T21:16:57","slug":"what-to-do-honoring-our-veterans-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chescotimes.com\/?p=42670","title":{"rendered":"What To Do: Honoring our veterans"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"elementToProof\"><strong>By Denny Dyroff<\/strong>, <em>Entertainment Editor, The Times<\/em><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-20987\" src=\"https:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/000687-0001-000032.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"242\" height=\"300\" \/>November 11 is Veterans Day, and many area attractions will honor veterans in a variety of ways.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The motto for the day is the Latin phrase, \u201cNos salutant vos,\u201d which translates to \u201cWe salute you\u201d in English.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The theme for Veterans Day\u00a02025\u00a0is \u201cService\u00a0to\u00a0Our\u00a0Nation.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">This\u00a0theme\u00a0reflects\u00a0a\u00a0tribute\u00a0to\u00a0all\u00a0uniformed\u00a0services\u00a0and\u00a0is\u00a0represented\u00a0by\u00a0the\u00a0winning\u00a0design\u00a0created\u00a0by\u00a0Army\u00a0Veteran\u00a0Jeremy\u00a0D.\u00a0Carpenter.\u00a0The\u00a0theme\u00a0will\u00a0be\u00a0featured\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0annual\u00a0Veterans\u00a0Day\u00a0poster\u00a0displayed\u00a0across\u00a0various\u00a0facilities.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Veterans Day\u00a0(originally known as\u00a0Armistice Day) is a\u00a0federal holiday in the United States\u00a0observed annually on November 11, for honoring\u00a0military veterans\u00a0of the\u00a0United States Armed Forces\u00a0(who were discharged under conditions other than dishonorable).<\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">There will be a special wreath laying ceremony in Coatesville on November 11 at 10:45 a.m. at Veterans Park \u2013 also known as Gateway Park.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The site\u2019s location is First Avenue at Lincoln Highway in Coatesville. Visitors are invited to gather in the park for a wreath laying ceremony hosted by the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 1777 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 287.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The 11th Annual Philadelphia Veterans Day Parade will be held on November 9 starting at 21st\u00a0Street and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The Philadelphia Veterans Parade will kick off at noon at 21st and the Parkway and finish up just past the Philadelphia Art Museum at Eakins Oval.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The Philadelphia Veterans Day Festival takes place from noon-4 p.m. at Eakins Oval.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The Veterans Festival is a fun and family-friendly atmosphere with live music, activities and games, festival market, food trucks and beer garden, vendors and Veterans Service Organizations.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Live music will be performed by\u00a0Ami Yares &amp; the Old New, Sanovia Garrett and\u00a0Emily Drinker.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">There will be another Veterans Day Parade in the area on Monday November 11.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Media\u2019s 2025 Veterans Day Parade will get underway at 11:11 a.m. on State Street.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The parade will begin on State Street and end in front of the Media Courthouse, followed by a special ceremony with our Grand Marshal, Ed Buffman, and musical guest, Ashli Rice.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\n<div id=\"attachment_20988\" style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20988\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-20988\" src=\"https:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/hagley-civil-war-cannon-350x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"225\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-20988\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hagley Museum<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Hagley Museum and Library (Route 141, Wilmington, Delaware, 302-658-2400, <a id=\"OWAf7545444-f1a8-bee8-fb97-5edce58bafce\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" title=\"Protected by Outlook: http:\/\/www.hagley.org\/.
