Chesco Historical Society bringing \u2018History on Tap\u2019 to Kennett Square<\/em><\/span><\/h1>\n

\"Unknown\"<\/a>\u00a0<\/b>\u201cHistory on Tap,\u201d a program of the Chester County Historical Society that combines insight and discussion with food and drink, is coming to Kennett Square.<\/p>\n

On Monday, Feb. 24, at 6:30 p.m., Chris Densmore will present \u201cThe Kidnapping of Thomas Mitchell, 1849\u2033\u00a0at the Half Moon Restaurant. Mitchell, an escaped slave from Elkton, Md., thought he was safe among the Quakers and free people of color in Chester County and found a home near Taggert\u2019s Corners (now Willowdale). Learn about the \u201creverse Underground Railroad\u201d and how Mitchell\u2019s Chester County neighbors pursued the kidnappers and eventually redeemed Mitchell from a slave-dealer\u2019s prison in Baltimore.<\/p>\n

An RSVP is required by Feb. 20 for this special \u201cHistory on Tap\u201d program since space is limited to 60 attendees and will be available on a first come, first served basis.\u00a0 RSVP to\u00a0rsvp@chestercohistorical.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n
