In Chester County, four projects will get a green light for improvements, a PennDot news release said.<\/p>\n<p>Under state law, fines from red light violations at 25 intersections in Philadelphia supply the grant funding. Pennsylvania\u2019s ARLE program aims to improve safety at signalized intersections by providing automated enforcement at locations where data shows red-light running has been an issue.\u00a0The law specifies that projects improving safety, enhancing mobility and reducing congestion can be considered for funding. Municipalities submitted more than 131 applications, totaling approximately $22.8 million, \u00a0the release said.\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Projects were selected by an eight-member committee based on criteria such as benefits and effectiveness, cost, local and regional impact, and cost sharing, the release said.<\/p>\n<p>In Chester County, the projects include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>East Coventry Township &#8211; $185,200 to improve safety and address traffic capacity at three intersections: New Schuylkill Road, Bethel Church Road and Linfield Road; Old Schuylkill Road and Linfield Road; and Old Schuylkill road and Bethel Church Road.<\/li>\n<li>East Whiteland Township &#8211; $445,000 to install an adaptive traffic signal control system at 12 intersections on Route 30 (Lancaster Avenue).<\/li>\n<li>North Coventry &#8211; $51,640 to install an adaptive traffic signal control system to address congestion at the Temple Road\/Glocker Way intersection.<\/li>\n<li>Tredyffrin Township &#8211; $564,978 to install an adaptive traffic signal control system at eight intersections on Route 30 (Lancaster Avenue).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PennDOT says four Chesco safety initiatives will receive part of $8.8 million The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced Wednesday, Jan. 29, that $8.8 million in Automated Red Light Enforcement (ARLE) funding will be distributed to 24 municipalities statewide to fund 32 safety projects.
