{"id":40302,"date":"2024-05-09T08:57:36","date_gmt":"2024-05-09T12:57:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chescotimes.com\/?p=40302"},"modified":"2024-05-09T08:57:37","modified_gmt":"2024-05-09T12:57:37","slug":"commissioners-adopt-heritage-tourism-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chescotimes.com\/?p=40302","title":{"rendered":"Commissioners adopt Heritage Tourism Plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-19498\" src=\"https:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Chester-County-Heritage-Tourism-Plan.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"184\" \/>Chester County Commissioners Josh Maxwell, Marian Moskowitz and Eric Roe recently adopted a new Heritage Tourism Plan that encourages all communities in the county to share stories that highlight their identity and history \u2013 which will support local and regional preservation, conservation, tourism, and quality of life.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The resolution to adopt the Heritage Tourism Plan, signed by all three Commissioners, notes the importance of the tourism industry to the local economy, and that \u201cChester County is a place where residents and visitors appreciate the natural, historic, and cultural attributes that give the county its distinctive character.\u201d<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In his presentation at the Commissioners\u2019 Meeting, Chester County Heritage Preservation Coordinator David Blackburn noted the purpose of the Plan is to increase heritage tourism in the county as an economic factor; encourage preservation of and investment in heritage sites and resources; and raise public awareness of the significance of historic communities and landscapes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis Plan will help to engage residents, create community pride, encourage investment in preserving our historic resources, and importantly, serves as an anchor for our county\u2019s America250 commemoration in 2026,\u201d said Blackburn.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt will be the source to help our communities highlight their own heritage through exhibits, public art and storytelling, and support heritage tourism in Chester County well into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Heritage Tourism Plan identifies Chester County\u2019s historic framework through six primary themes: The Natural Landscape; The Cultural Landscape; Evolving Values; The Philadelphia Campaign; Iron and Steel; and Creative Expression.
