{"id":29971,"date":"2019-09-24T07:14:22","date_gmt":"2019-09-24T11:14:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chescotimes.com\/?p=29971"},"modified":"2019-09-24T07:14:28","modified_gmt":"2019-09-24T11:14:28","slug":"commissioners-meet-with-young-people-on-global-climate-issues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chescotimes.com\/?p=29971","title":{"rendered":".Commissioners meet with young people on Global Climate issues"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_10202\" style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Ready-for-100-meeting-with-Commissioners.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10202\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-10202\" src=\"https:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Ready-for-100-meeting-with-Commissioners-350x194.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"194\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-10202\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chester County Commissioners Michelle Kichline and Terence Farrell (back row left and right) accept \u201cReady for 100\u201d postcards from county students and young professionals (front row left to right) Paige Vermeulen, Isaac Harte and Chloe Powell, and (back row center left and right) Kara Thorpe and Brittany Flynn.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Chester County Commissioners Michelle Kichline and Terence Farrell met with county students and young professionals on Global Climate Strike Day to receive hundreds of \u201cReady for 100\u201d postcards, and to discuss what actions Chester County government has taken and is taking to address energy and environmental challenges.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Isaac Harte, a 12-year-old student at Delaware Valley Friends School was joined by West Chester University student Paige Vermeulen; WCU grad Kara Thorpe; Chloe Powell, a West Chester-based speech therapist; and Brittany Flynn, an employee at Vanguard.\u00a0 The group explained the purpose of their meeting with the Commissioners \u2013 in addition to presenting the postcards, they were there to discuss what changes can be made and actions taken together in Chester County to address climate change.<\/p>\n<p>Isaac Harte also gave his account of the Climate Strike event held earlier that day at City Hall in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n<p>Commissioners Kichline and Farrell shared with the group key actions that Chester County government has taken over the years, notably the 30-year investment in open space preservation, recently validated by the \u201cReturn on Environment\u201d study as a tremendous economic as well as environmental benefit to Chester County residents.
