Bruce Rogal<\/p><\/div>\n

A man, after attempting to kill his ex-wife on the day their divorce became final, apparently killed his aged parents at an East Goshen Assisted Living facility, before leading police on a deadly chase, with gunfire exchanged before being found dead, Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

The man, Bruce Rogal, age 59, allegedly killed his parents in the Bellingham retirement community in <\/span>East Goshen on Wednesday at approximately 6:15 p.m. Rogal reportedly\u00a0<\/span>attempted to kill his wife in West Bradford earlier in the evening at approximately 5:<\/span>30 p.m. This activity <\/span>appears to <\/span>have been triggered by a divorce decree received <\/span>by Rogal that day, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan announced that the investigation into the deadly shootings at the Bellingham retirement community and the death of the suspect <\/span>is ongoing.<\/p>\n

The murders <\/span>and attempted murder set <\/span>off an intensive <\/span>manhunt for Rogal. The media put out warnings, identifying information, <\/span>and photographs <\/span>of Rogal to the public. The Chester County Regional Emergency Response Team responded <\/span>to Rogal’s home to search <\/span>for him. Pennsylvania State Police (“PSP”) Troopers eventually observed the suspect <\/span>driving his <\/span>2002 Honda Odyssey on Strasburg Road. Rogal led the police on a high speed <\/span>chase back to his wife’s home, where he had shot at his wife earlier in the evening. Shots were exchanged during the pursuit.<\/p>\n

Rogal’s vehicle eventually crashed into his wife’s residence. The Pennsylvania State Police,\u00a0<\/b><\/span>the Chester County Regional Emergency Response Team (<\/span>“<\/span>CCRERT”),<\/span> and municipal police departments all were at the scene. CCRERT members approached the vehicle and discovered that Rogal was already deceased in the driver’s seat <\/span>of the vehicle, with other firearms still <\/span>in the vehicle.<\/p>\n

The investigation into Rogal is ongoing pending review of mu<\/span>l<\/span>tiple <\/span>crime scenes, <\/span>autopsies, interviews with the involved Troopers who discharged their weapons, and additional investigative tasks. There is also an ongoing investigation with family members into the circumstances leading to <\/span>Rogal’s attempted murder <\/span>of his wife and the murder of his parents.<\/p>\n

“Chester County law <\/span>enforcement worked <\/span>cooperatively and swiftly <\/span>to bring this situation to a <\/span>close,” Hogan said. “Virtually every law <\/span>enforcement agency and other first responders in <\/span>the county and <\/span>region either assisted or volunteered their<\/span> assistance during the tense<\/span> hours<\/span> of this<\/span> manhunt for a <\/span>killer. <\/span>The citizens of Chester County can take comfort in <\/span>knowing that when dangerous situations <\/span>like this take <\/span>place, their police <\/span>and first responders <\/span>are prepared. We will continue to investigate this matter and provide additional information when the <\/span>investigation is complete.”<\/p>\n

This case was investigated by the Chester County Detectives, the <\/span>Pennsylvania State Police, the Westtown\/East Goshen Regional Police Department, Chester County Regional Emergency <\/span>Response Team, and multiple assisting agencies. <\/span>The Chester County Department of <\/span>Emergency Services, the Coroner’s Office, and numerous fire companies and EMT services <\/span>played critical roles in securing <\/span>the scenes <\/span>and assisting law enforcement.
