{"id":26024,"date":"2018-07-07T06:00:52","date_gmt":"2018-07-07T10:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chescotimes.com\/?p=26024"},"modified":"2018-06-27T09:48:25","modified_gmt":"2018-06-27T13:48:25","slug":"26024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chescotimes.com\/?p=26024","title":{"rendered":"Longwood unveils three new ambulances"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_7548\" style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Ambulances-062618.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7548\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7548\" src=\"http:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Ambulances-062618-350x174.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"174\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-7548\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Longwood Fire Company&#8217;s three new ambulances.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Longwood Fire Company has added three new ambulances to serve the community and now has four vehicles in service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe examined the needs of the community and our commitments and we were convinced four ambulances were necessary to cover our emergency calls, standby requests and other duties,\u201d said Longwood EMS Captain Matt Eick. \u201cPreviously, there were a few times we were holding our breaths that we wouldn\u2019t receive an additional call.\u201d<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Two of the ambulances are 2017 Ford\/Braun F-450 vehicles. The third addition is a 2016 Ford\/Horton E-450 type III remount gasoline ambulance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLongwood is committed to providing the emergency services our constituents deserve,\u201d said Chief A. J. McCarthy. \u201cOur EMS division staff members are outstanding and the four ambulances allow them to protect the Longwood area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eick added, \u201cWe determined two of our older ambulances, the International\/Horton Terrastar ambulances, needed replacing. The maintenance costs were mounting and they weren\u2019t as dependable. The upgrading of the ambulances was an economical move, as well, for Longwood. The remount vehicle was totally redone and cost half of a new ambulance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The two 2017 Ford\/Braun F-450 types have an extended diesel chassis with all LED lighting along with a master tech electrical and lighting systems provided by Whelen.
