MaCarthy gives instructions to his son Jeremy during open house event.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>EAST MARLBOROUGH \u2014 Longwood Fire Company\u2019s annual open house drew support from the public and business community as the organization commemorated its 95<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLongwood has rendered great service to our neighbors for 95 years,\u201d said Chief A. J. McCarthy. \u201cThe community certainly supported our open house this past Sunday. Hundreds of people took part in our event.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI also want to recognize the many businesses that supported Longwood\u2019s open house. They were Longwood Gardens, Sawmill Bar &amp; Grill, Herr&#8217;s Snack Factory, Floga Bistro, Inn at Mendenhall, Two Stones Pub, Giant, Chadds Ford Winery, Palm-a-Bagel, Brandywine Prime, Capriotti&#8217;s, WAWA and Applebees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Refreshments were served during the family-friendly event. Informational tables were manned by Crozer Burn Center, Fitchett Chiropractic, Walgreen&#8217;s (free flu shots), Kennett Township Police Department and Christiana Care\u00a0LifeNet Air Medical Helicopter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs is our tradition, we opened our bay doors to welcome everyone to our station, and to showcase our fire apparatus, and equipment for the community we serve,\u201d McCarthy said.<\/p>\n<p>Longwood Fire Company has served the communities of Kennett, East Marlborough, Pennsbury and Pocopson townships since 1921. Longwood Fire Company provides fire and rescue and emergency medical services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
