Katharine M. \u201cKate\u201d Kendig<\/p><\/div>\n

Katharine M. \u201cKate\u201d Kendig, age 91 of Glen Mills, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2016 at her home at Maris Grove.\u00a0 She was the devoted and loving wife of Nathan Kendig with whom she shared a wonderful 61 years of marriage before his passing on June 13, 2014.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kate was born and raised in Kennett Square, PA where she graduated from St Patrick\u2019s Grade School and Kennett Consolidated School.\u00a0 She worked at the DuPont Company as a secretary prior to marrying Nate and then as a teacher\u2019s aide at Kennett Consolidated School for a number of years.\u00a0 Kate was an accomplished vocalist who performed at Longwood Gardens and in her father\u2019s minstrel shows.\u00a0\u00a0 Kate\u2019s true joy was being a homemaker and raising her three sons.\u00a0 Her Sunday dinners were something that everyone looked forward to.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Kate and her family spent 30 plus years Summer vacationing in Belgrade, Maine.\u00a0 Upon her husband\u2019s retirement from Camp Kennebec in Belgrade, Kate and Nate enjoyed their Summers on the coast of Maine where they spent much of their time with family and friends.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Kate is survived by her sons, Kevin (Veronica) of Sarasota, Florida, Terrance (Anna Marie) of Newark, Delaware and David of Newtown, Pennsylvania and two adored grandchildren David Jr. \u201cDuke\u201d and Devon along with several nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces left to cherish her memory.\u00a0 She was preceded in death by her parents Francis P. and Florence (Leonard) Mundy, her brother Francis \u201cPete\u201d Mundy, sisters Margaret Chrzanowski and Mary Mundy, sister-in-law Laura (Kendig) Myers, brothers-in-law Dr. John Chrzanowski and Benjamin Myers.<\/span><\/p>\n

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the caregivers at Maris Grove Rose Court and Crossroads Hospice.\u00a0 A sincere thank you to the aides at Maris Grove Rose Court who had a special bond with mom to engage her in many different activities and most importantly to make her smile and laugh.<\/span><\/p>\n

You are invited to visit with Kate\u2019s family and friends from 9:00am to 10:30am, Friday, October 21, 2016. at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home, 250 West State Street, Kennett Square, PA .\u00a0 A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 at St. Patrick\u2019s Church, 212 Meredith Street, Kennett Square, PA .\u00a0 Internment will be private.<\/span><\/p>\n
