Pennsylvania State Troopers in Troop <span class=\"s2\">J <\/span>will be closely monitoring highway travel in Chester County over the holiday season\u00a0especially where analysis has shown higher incidents of serious injury\u00a0and fatal crashes.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Troopers will focus on serious traffic violations, such as driving under the influence, and aggressive driving. Roving DUI patrols and special speed enforcement details will be utilized. The official Christmas holiday enforcement<span class=\"s1\"> perjod <\/span>will begin Thursday, December 24th, and end Sunday, December 27th. The official New Year&#8217;s holiday\u00a0period will begin on Thursday, December<span class=\"s1\"> 31\u00a0<\/span>and end on Saturday, Januaty 2nd.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\">The Pennsylvania State Police request motorists to:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p8\">\u2022\u00a0Drive defensively, not aggressively. Don&#8217;t speed, tailgate or engage in other dangerous driving behaviors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p9\">\u2022 Make sure everyone in your vehicle is properly restrained, including all children and backseat passengers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p10\">\u2022 Avoid driving, even for a short distance, if you&#8217;ve been drinking.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p10\">\u2022 Give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p11\"><span class=\"s1\">\u2022 Avoid <\/span>texting while operating a motor vehicle for <span class=\"s4\">it<\/span> is illegal in Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p13\">The Pennsylvania State Police also wish to remind parents that anyone who<span class=\"s1\"> transports <\/span>a child under four years of age anywhere in the motor vehicle must fasten the child securely in an approved child safety seat.
