Roe<\/p><\/div>\n<p>A West Goshen man became the third\u00a0Republican this week to announce they would seek the party&#8217;s nomination for the 158th District State House seat, and potentially replace the retiring State Rep. Chris Ross.<\/p>\n<p>Eric Roe, currently the administrative assistant to County Commissioner Michelle Kichline, said he would seek the party&#8217;s nomination. Previously, Kennett Square attorney Lenny Rivera announced he planned to run, as well as Perry Bentley of Unionville.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cMy legislative priorities are in line with the unalienable rights found in the Declaration of Independence: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It is important for us to defend the defenseless, including the unborn. Stopping higher taxes from eroding our freedoms is a high priority.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Roe said in a statement.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He said he is determined to pass Paycheck Protection and a Right-to-Work bill that would allow people to take any job without joining a labor union, if they so choose.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI can\u2019t pretend, however, that I can achieve all of this on my own,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I will be eager to work with the other 202 members of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Roe worked for the Republican National Committee in Washington from 2009 to 2011, where he was Chairman Michael Steele\u2019s staffer during the 2010 midterm election. Later, he served as Special Assistant at former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff\u2019s homeland security consulting firm, The Chertoff Group LLC. In 2012, Mr. Roe helped run the regional CPAC events for the American Conservative Union. He holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in political science from American University and a master\u2019s degree in public policy from University College London.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He also\u00a0is involved in a number of volunteer organizations.\u00a0 He sits on the board of the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County. He and his wife, Alice, both volunteer with Chester County Women\u2019s Services.
