Race directors Kelly Stauffer and Traci Tury set a goal of $15,000 for this year, which will directly benefit the students at the school through activities, field trips, assemblies and special projects.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The race day kicked off with a performance from local dancers at Shannon Cooper\u2019s Academy of Dance of Wagontown, followed by a pre-run stretch and warm up at the direction of Phys.Ed. As the runners and walkers approached the finish line, their once-white race shirts looked like colorful pieces of art.<\/p>\n<p>King\u2019s Highway principal Stevan Lefever was thrilled with the turn out:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s great to see so many members of the community that came out to participate. That\u2019s why we do this, to bring the community together,\u201d said Lefever.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1192785\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/ColorRunPJP-300x300.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1192785\" class=\"wp-image-1192785 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/ColorRunPJP-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"ColorRunPJP\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1192785\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Members of the Pope John Paul Cross Country Team ran King\u2019s Highway Elementary\u2019s Color Run Saturday.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Speaking of the community, several members of the Pope John Paul School\u2019s cross-country team also ran in the 5K. They initially had a meet scheduled for that morning, however it was canceled as a result of Pope Francis\u2019 visit to Philadelphia and were happy to support King\u2019s Highway Elementary.<\/p>\n<p>Stauffer and Tury, who both ran the race, also felt a sense of community out on the course as they heard words of encouragement and support the participants showed one another along the course.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSeeing the looks of excitement and satisfaction on the students\u2019 and adults\u2019 faces as they cross the finish line, is my favorite part of organizing this event,\u201d said Stauffer.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1192788\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/IMG_7694-300x300.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1192788\" class=\"wp-image-1192788 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/IMG_7694-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7694\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1192788\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dancers from Shannon Cooper\u2019s Academy of Dance performed for the crowd of runners before the race began.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI absolutely love this event! Not only are we raising money for a good cause, we do it in a way that gets families, friends, and neighbors all together in one place, cheering each other on, laughing and inadvertently doing something healthy,\u201d said Tury<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGoing door-to-door, to sell items is really tricky these days.
