As school doors open Monday morning, KCSD will welcome back its students and faculty while setting its sights on making 2015\/2016 its best school year yet.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Kennett High School\u2019s new principal, Jeremy Hritz, shared with <em>The Times<\/em> the district-wide 2015\/2016 school year theme <strong>\u2018#ALL<\/strong>in.\u2019\u00a0 Hritz explains, \u201c<strong>#ALL<\/strong>in is a team concept that powerfully states how we are each \u2018all in\u2019 and will do everything we can to help every student within KCSD improve and succeed\u2026we can feel it here at KHS\u2026everyone is excited to be back.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1171444\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/kmsrug-300x225.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1171444\" class=\"wp-image-1171444 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/kmsrug-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1171444\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">KMS PTO&#8217;s school gift: A new all weather lobby rug showcasing KCSD pride.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>This message was echoed by Kennett Middle School\u2019s (KMS) new principal, Lorenzo DeAngelis \u201c<strong>#ALL<\/strong>in theme underscores and is a constant reminder of how much we can positively influence kids in the district every day. We will never lower our expectations or limit our interventions to help ensure our students receive the best educational experience possible\u2026Parents of KCSD, we are honored to have your children in our schools.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brenna Levi left her KMS teaching position and was hired this summer as a KMS assistant principal; she is the newest member of the KMS\u2019 leadership team.<\/p>\n<p>Levi enthusiastically shared a new KMS and KHS initiative for the 2015\/2016 year, \u201cOur elementary schools have implemented responsive classrooms and do a terrific job of rewarding positive student behavior.\u00a0 We are very enthused to now\u00a0offer\u00a0this to our older students\u00a0with a\u00a0new P.R.I.D.E program we are introducing\u00a0at KMS and KHS. \u00a0P.R.I.D.E stands for Personal responsibility, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence.\u201d\u00a0 Levi continued, \u201cStudents will be recognized for going above and beyond to show the key qualities of P.R.I.D.E. and will be rewarded with tickets redeemable for great prizes and rewards.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1171441\" style=\"width: 235px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/april-and-kids-225x300.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1171441\" class=\"wp-image-1171441 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/april-and-kids-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"april and kids\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1171441\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">MD Lang Kindergarten Center&#8217;s new principal, April Reynolds, welcomes her students with &#8216;Pop&#8217; in and meet the principal for popsicles.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Jake Moore is currently KMS\u2019 second (acting) vice principal; the official approval of his position is slated for KCSD\u2019s September school board meeting.<\/p>\n<p>At Mary D. Lang Kindergarten Center, KCSD\u2019s youngest students will also be greeted by a new principal, April Reynolds.\u00a0 Reynolds, a former KCSD teacher, enthusiastically says, \u201cI am just so happy to be here and I LOVE our students!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In early August, Reynolds hosted a special\u00a0event for incoming families on the playground: \u00a0\u2018Pop\u2019 in and\u00a0meet the principal for popsicles. \u201cIt was a great event and fun to see so many new and familiar families,\u201d says Reynolds.<\/p>\n<p>KMS is committed to retaining and growing its accreditation within the national Schools to Watch (STW) program.\u00a0 This summer two KMS teachers, Joy Rosser and Brooke Giffi, volunteered to receive training and serve on the national STW assessment team.\u00a0 Rosser and Giffi will visit other middle schools, evaluate their progress on STW standards, while sharing other best practices with KMS.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1171442\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/GWGYM-300x225.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1171442\" class=\"wp-image-1171442 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/GWGYM-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"GWGYM\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1171442\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Greenwood Elementary&#8217;s renovated multi-purpose room.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>KMS has \u00a0added an additional STEM (Science, Technology Engineering and Math) classroom; increasing its students&#8217; STEM exposure from the previous approximate of\u00a015 days to 45 consecutive days this year, which equivalent to a full marking period.<\/p>\n<p>The KMS Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) gifted its school with a new, all weather lobby rug displaying the KCSD crest and colors. \u201cWe love that our students and visitors will feel and see Kennett pride from the moment they step into KMS, to their last step out the door every day,\u201d says DeAngelis.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1171443\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/gymfloor-300x225.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1171443\" class=\"wp-image-1171443 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/gymfloor-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"gymfloor\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1171443\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">KHS&#8217; brand new gymnasium floor.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>KCSD conducted 37 facilities improvement projects this summer; the largest was the renovation of Greenwood Elementary\u2019s multi-purpose room.\u00a0 The circa 1960\u2019s room now has air-conditioning, a new ceiling and lighting, refinished floor, an updated stage apron and new stage curtains.<\/p>\n<p>KHS\u2019 gymnasium floor has also been reworked with a new, custom, stained finish incorporating KHS colors and a large, spirit-filled \u201cK\u201d adorning center court.<\/p>\n<p>Visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kcsd.org\" target=\"_blank\">www.kcsd.org<\/a> for more information including the district calendar, events and board meeting schedule.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/HRITZ-225x300.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-1171440 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/HRITZ-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"HRITZ\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>5 new principals, facility upgrades &amp; enthusiasm will greet students Monday &nbsp; By Kim Chiomento, News Editor, The Times &nbsp; KENNETT \u2013 The Kennett Consolidated School District (KCSD) has had a busy summer filled with major administrative changes, facility upgrades and continued focus on academic rigor.
