The concert features melodies from well-known operas.\u00a0 Orchestral music is so essential to opera that it is often featured by itself \u2013 as Music Director Michael Hall has programmed \u2013 in the form of\u00a0Opera Without Words. It defines the characters, generates the action, and establishes the atmosphere of the story. Even without words, this is music you will recognize and fall in love with.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The program features many of opera\u2019s \u201cgreatest hits\u201d including works by Bizet, Mozart, Puccini, and Verdi. Audiences will recognize the orchestral music of <em>Carmen<\/em>, <em>The Marriage of Figaro<\/em>, <em>Faust<\/em> and more, plus medleys from two popular musicals: <em>Phantom of the Opera<\/em> and <em>West Side Story<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Two young stars of tomorrow will also be featured. Both are winners of the Kennett Symphony\u2019s young artist competitions. Flutist, Nicole Ozdowski will perform <em>Carmen Fantasy<\/em> by Borne\/Bizet. Bass-Baritone, Rocky Sellers will perform<em> La Vendetta<\/em> from <em>The Marriage of Figaro<\/em>, <em>Le Veau D\u2019or<\/em> from <em>Faust<\/em>, and <em>Ol\u2019Man<\/em> <em>River<\/em> from <em>Showboat<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Flutist Nicole Ozdowski is a 2015 graduate of Marple Newtown High School. Ms. Ozdowski has won a following with\u00a0her beautiful tone, stellar technique and engaging performance style.\u00a0\u00a0In addition to winning the KSCC\u2019s competition, Ozdowski has won numerous awards and competitions throughout the region, and will be attending Princeton University in the fall.<\/p>\n<p>Bass-Baritone, Rocky Sellers has been described by the <em>New York Observer <\/em>as a \u201cvibrant, booming bass\u201d. Mr. Sellers has performed with the Portland Opera, Manhattan Opera Studio, Opera Company of Montclair, Opera Ebony, American Spiritual Ensemble, Santa Fe Opera, and Sarasota Opera, among others. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Tennessee.<\/p>\n<p>Ticket price includes the concert, access to visit Longwood Gardens during the day on the day of the concert, free parking, and a special gift courtesy of Longwood Gardens and the Kennett Symphony.<\/p>\n<p>Ticket prices are $40 in advance, $45 on the day of the concert.
