COATESVILLE — ChesPenn Health Services is hosting an Open Enrollment Event for anyone needing assistance in applying for insurance coverage under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).  Certified Application Counselors will be available to help on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 10 am to 4 pm.  The event will be held in the Kay Conference Room on the fourth floor of the Brandywine Center at 744 E. Lincoln Highway in Coatesville.

Applicants will need a valid social security number, employer and income information for each household member, dates of birth for each household member and policy numbers for any current health insurance plan covering household members.  Those who will not be able to purchase insurance this year through the Marketplace may be eligible for the state’s Healthy PA Insurance . Enrollment for Healthy Pa. begins  December 1st and coverage will begin January 1st 2015.  After January 1, the consumer’s application date will become their effective coverage date.

According to ChesPenn Director of Outreach Sheila Church, “Last year 318,077 individuals were enrolled in Pennsylvania. Of the state’s 67 counties, Delaware County was 5th with 19,771 and Chester County  was 6th with 13,159. Most folks reported elation over being able to purchase insurance though the Marketplace.  This was the first time many of them had owned insurance.   Because Pennsylvania didn’t participate in Medicaid expansion, they needed the tax credits and cost sharing features available through the ACA to make it affordable.”

For more information about Open Enrollment in the Health Insurance Marketplace, contact Sheila Church at 610-485-3000, ext. 627.  ChesPenn Health Services has provided quality medical and dental services to residents of Delaware County since 1973 and expanded services to Coatesville in 2005.
