Chester County Chapter of NSDAR recognizes 10 seniors

The Chester County Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) held an awards ceremony earlier this month to spotlight 10 high-school seniors who have demonstrated the qualities of good citizenship.
The teens were selected among seniors from all Chester County high schools to receive the Good Citizen Award, based on their dependability, leadership and patriotism. Their selection was celebrated on Monday, March 11.
The winners of the annual competition were Ryan Elizabeth Clark of Unionville High School, Nicholas Alexander Conforti of Octorara Area High School, Paul Richard Draper of Coatesville Area Senior High School, Kiera Sweeney Judge of Kennett High School, Margaretta C.R. Mitchell of B. Reed Henderson High School, Ronald Carlisle Myers III of Avon Grove High School, Katherine Elisabeth Patterson of Downingtown West Senior High School, Jared Michael Reid of Downingtown STEM Academy, Heidi Maria Weston of Chester County Technical College High School’s Pennock Campus, and Mary Elizabeth Williams of Oxford Area High School.
The NSDAR, founded to perpetuate the memory and spirit of the men and women who achieved American independence, fulfills its mission by promoting a variety of historical, educational and patriotic activities, according to its web site. Mrs. Abner Hoopes, the wife of a prominent Chester County nurseryman, founded the Chester County chapter in 1894; an early member, Mrs. Hannah Philips Stille-Eaches of Phoenixville, was what is known as a “Real Daughter,” a first generation daughter of a Patriot, the web site said.
