State police: Kennett Square-area driver lost control of truck

IMG_0309A 27-year-old Coatesville-area woman died of injuries sustained in a one-vehicle crash in East Marlborough Township on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 12:37 a.m., said state police from the Avondale barracks in a news release.

Police said Kelly Lynn Parker, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the crash occurred when a 2004 Ford F-350 truck operated by Ashley E. Parker, 26, of Kennett Square, was traveling north on North Walnut Road, south of Hadley Mill Road. Police said Ashley Parker lost control of the truck on wet pavement, drove off the northbound lane, reentered the roadway, crossed the north and southbound lanes, and continued off the road, where it struck several trees.

A passenger, Ashley Babbage, 25, of Hatfield, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was taken to Crozer Medical Center for minor injuries, police said. The other occupants of the truck, who ranged in age from 25 to 30, were not injured, police said, adding that at least two were wearing seat belts. The truck sustained severe damage, police said.

Police said an investigation into the cause of the crash was continued. Police said they were assisted at the scene by Longwood Fire Company, the Chester County Coroner’s Office and Mercer’s Towing.
