Artisans’ Bank announced that Dr. Carlos J. Asarta, Ph.D. of Kennett Square was recently been elected to the board of directors of Artisans’ Bank.

Asarta is an Associate Professor at the University of Delaware in the Department of Economics. He is also the Director of the Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship at the University of Delaware in Newark. Prior to joining the University of Delaware he spent 6 years at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln as an Assistant Professor of Practice and Associate Professor of Practice.

Asarta is an Associate at the National Center for Research in Economic Education, Secretary of the Delaware Council for Economic Education and Vice President for the Society of Economic Educators. He is also a member of the National Endowment for Financial Education Evaluation Working Group. His professional awards include the Lerner College Outstanding Teacher Award, University of Delaware Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics, Outstanding Educator of the Year Award, Association of Students of the University of Nebraska and the Abbejean Kehler Technology Award, National Association of Economic Educators and Council for Economic Education.

Asarta holds a B.S. degree in Economics and International Business, an M.A. degree in Economics and a Ph.D. degree in Economics, all from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
