The top overall male and female finishers receive $100 cash awards; second overall male and female finishers receive $50.

The race has raised over $182,000 for LASP Chester County Division since its inception in 2005.

LASP provides free legal services including protection from abuse, child custody, landlord tenant, bankruptcy and elder law to low-income people in Chester, Bucks, Montgomery and Delaware Counties.

Last year, LASP Chester County handled nearly 1,000 civil cases in areas including domestic abuse, family law, housing, and government benefits. Mr. D., a homeless veteran who had been waiting for more than a year for his VA pension and SSI award, came to LASP at an outreach clinic. After interviewing Mr. D., one of LASP Chester County’s attorneys realized that his medical diagnosis qualified his SSI appeal for a fast track status. With LASP’s help, Mr. D. was granted his SSI and back pay in a lump sum. He used this money to move out of the shelter and into an apartment, affording him independence and dignity.
