A sampling of fun beach reads for you to check out

KellyColumn415Newest815One of the major downsides of being in graduate school is “reading fatigue.” I am forced to absorb so much information into my tiny, little brain that reading for pleasure gets put on the backburner.

Therefore, whatever leisure book I do pick up must be great from the getgo.

There is nothing better than lounging on a beach chair with a cold Diet Coke and a juicy novel. Here are a few that I am throwing in my bag alongside my sunscreen:

The Singles Game by Lauren Weisberger The Devil Wears Prada is one of my favorites, so I am excited to read anything from this author. This book is about a tennis prodigy who changes coaches and subsequently makes headlines off the court. Love! Hahaha, get it? Click here: http://amzn.to/1RT4UWT

Beach-Read-2016Girls On Fire by Robin Wasserman Described as a shocking story of love, violence, and friendship, this one sounds like a real page turner! Click here: http://amzn.to/1TZF0Fc

The Weekenders by Mary Kay Andrews Truthfully, most of my book suggestions come from the blogs I follow and this one was being featured on, just about, all of them. The setting takes place on the idyllic island of Belle Isle, North Carolina. The main character, Riley, thinks she is meeting her husband off of the ferry to start their summer vacation. Instead, she’s served with divorce papers and her husband is MIA. Sounds like the start of a good book to me. Click here: http://amzn.to/1UjnXLJ

The Assistants by Camille Perri Who doesn’t love a classic moral dilemma? Tina Fontana is a thirtyyearold executive assistant struggling to make ends meet. She is faced with the opportunity to wipe away her student loans because of an error on an expense report. What does she do? Click here: http://amzn.to/1UASUO2

Modern Lovers by Emma Straub (This one hits a little too close to home) But, sounds like a mustread, for sure! It’s a story about a tightknit group of college friends who have been through everything together and now are commiserating about passing the torch of youth to their children (who are heading off to college). With Malice by Eileen Cook I was attracted to this mystery because it is set in Italy (my favorite place in the world)! The jacket promises a psychological thriller about a teenage girl who gets in an accident while abroad and can’t remember the last six weeks of her life. Click here: http://amzn.to/1Y73hvX
