Longwood Fire Company showed off some of its emergency gear at last weekend’s Fairville Friends Fair.

PENNSBURY — Longwood Fire Company provided firefighting apparatus and educational information to children and families during the Fairville Friends School Community Fair.

“We’re just one part of the annual fair,” Longwood Chief A. J. McCarthy said. “The community enjoys the day. We provided an engine, traffic unit and ambulance. We also handed out fire hats and packets of educational information to the children.”

The fair took place Saturday on the school grounds in Chadds Ford. The family fair also included pony rides, tractor rides, moon bounces, digging for buried treasure and cookie decorating.

“The visitors had an opportunity to try on our fire gear and climb aboard our fire truck,” McCarthy said. “The children like to do so.”

Longwood Fire Company has served the communities of Kennett, East Marlborough, Pennsbury and Pocopson townships since 1921. Longwood Fire Company provides fire and rescue and emergency medical services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. For more information see www.longwoodfireco.com.
