United Way hosts book drive for preschool students

Call to action – donations needed to help kids get ready for kindergarten

The United Way of Chester County (UWCC) has issued a community call to action to help local children get ready for kindergarten in the fall.  Sponsored by a grant from CCRES, UWCC’s drive will get summer reading materials to public sites.BOOKS2

The donated books will be distributed to local Little Free Libraries located at Born Learning Trails that United Way of Chester County has installed at parks and schools; also to community libraries, and other summer program sites throughout Chester County. The goal is for families unable to purchase books to be able to read with their children over the summer.

The collection will run from Monday, June 15, 2015 – Monday, June 29, 2015Community members can bring donated books to the Summer Book Drive Collection Sites: YMCA of Greater Brandywines Lionville, Jennersville, Oscar Lasko Youth Program and Brandywine branches; St. James’ Episcopal Church in Downingtown; and Chester County Book Company in the West Goshen Shopping Plaza.
